Applications In Ocean Engineering
Application 1 Subsea Pipeline Maintenance
Due to force majeure and unforeseen circumstances, subsea pipelines are inevitably subject to damage. During maintenance and emergency repair operations, it is often necessary to remove coatings; in such cases, high-pressure water jet equipment must be employed for surface preparation of the pipeline.
Application 2 Marine underwater cleaning
During offshore operations, marine biofouling readily accumulates on the ship’s hull. High-pressure water jetting can be employed for underwater cleaning, reducing hydrodynamic drag, lowering fuel consumption, and maintaining vessel speed.
Application 3 Abrasive waterjet underwater cutting technology
Marine engineering involves a large number of underwater structures that require cutting. Compared with other cutting methods, abrasive waterjet machining stands out for its versatility, operational flexibility, and suitability for environments where access is difficult. Abrasive waterjet technology is created by introducing an abrasive material into a high-pressure water jet; when used for underwater cutting, hydrostatic pressure significantly influences the jet’s performance. In contrast, mixed‑abrasive waterjets employ separate hoses to deliver the abrasive, eliminating both the risk of high‑pressure hose blockages and severe wear on the high‑pressure piping, thereby making them well suited for deep‑water cutting applications.
